1/8/25 Galway

Thursday's winner at Galway was Ndaawi. The 13/2 shot was 7th at halfway improving into 2nd two out, he disputed the lead at the last but found himself short of room in the closing stages. He kept on but went down by a head however after a stewards enquiry he was promoted to 1st. The other pick Special Cadeau was 5th in a race won by Gold Dancer who beat Westport Cove by 2 1/2 lengths.

Galway continues on Friday with 8 races and 2 standing out.

6.00: Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase.

10: Native Speaker: A useful horse who picked up 2 wins from 5 runs last season. He was a bit below form when 9th at Punchestown on his return 91 days ago where he led early but was passed after the 3rd weakening from 2 out. That run was needed and he will improve picking up a third career win here.

6.35: Guinness Handicap.

6: Cloud Seeker: A decent horse who's last win came at Leopardstown in May. He was a good 2nd behind the reopposing Fleetfoot at The Curragh 33 days ago where he led until he was strongly pressed 2 out being passed close to home only going down by a neck. He can build on that here and resume winning ways.

He ran well disputing the lead from 3 out but he was passed soon after making no impression on the run-in. He is a big player who should pick up a 3rd career win here.

4.30: Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap (Grade 3)

5: Ndaawi: A useful horse who was a good 2nd in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen in March. He tracked the leaders early challenging approaching the last, he kept on well but couldn't reach the winner.
