26/9/20 Listowel + The Curragh

On Friday I didn't manage to pick any winners in the day's big races. The best finisher was The Reaping Race in the 2.40 at Listowel he came in 3rd with Not So Simple and the 18/1 winner Northern Emperor the only horses in front of him. In the 4.25 Crazywork De Vassy dropped away 3 fences from home and finished 8th while at Dundalk Vatican City was up with the leaders until 2 furlongs out and ended up finishing 7th.

Saturday is another busy day in Ireland,it's the final day of the harvest festival meeting at Listowel but all eyes will be on The Curragh with two feature races. The first is at 3.15 when 13 go to the start for the Alan Smurfit Memorial Beresford stakes where 3 standout.  High Definition made a winning debut over this course and race distance of one mile 35 days ago beating 11 others. Brazil is an Aidan O'Brien runner as the trainer attempts to win this race for the 10th year running his last race was also a win at The Curragh in late August when he just about beat Colour Sergeant. The other one to take a look at is Wuqood who won on his debut at Gowran Park 45 days ago.

The other big race is at 3.50 when 12 go to post for the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Renaissance Stakes. Summerghand last won at Goodwood at the beginning of August when he beat 26 others to land the Stewards Cup his step up to group 1 was too much when he finished 8th in the Sprint Cup at Haydock last time out but dropping down to a group 3 will help here. Urban Beat is the main threat arriving after being a good second in the Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster earlier this month so will be in the mix while Southern Horse was a good third at Cork 49 days ago and makes his debut for Jessica Harrington's Yard here. Others to look out for include Forever In Dreams and Ventura Rebel in a difficult race to call.

Big race tips: 3.15- 3: High Definition  3.50- 4: Summerghand.
