Wednesday wasn't a bad day for my pick with Special Power coming 2nd,the 5/6 favourite chased the leaders in 3rd early. He challenged just over a furlong out but soon found himself short of room,he kept on well in the final furlong moving into 2nd close to home. The race went to the 4/1 shot Takana who won by 1/2 a length.
The first of three busy days sees 7 races at Clonmel and 8 at Bellewstown, the highlight at Clonmel is the 1.40 when 9 begin the Clonmel Mares Handicap Hurdle. Earls was an encouraging 2nd to Is That Love at Listowel a week ago,he should build on that here and on form looks like the one to beat. Meishar picked up his career best win in a handicap at Dundalk last week,he goes up in trip and with improvement coming all the time he should challenge.
