It wasn't a great end to the weekend for my picks,at Cork Russian Diamond was 5th. The 11/2 shot was at the rear of midfield early Sitting 8th after the 11th. He made some effort before 3 out but a mistake 2 out saw him weaken. The 16/1 chance Braeside won beating Screaming Colours by 3 lengths. At Naas it was worse with Duffle Coat finishing 8th. The 7/2 favourite made some headway from 4 out but made no impression after not getting a clear run under 3 out. He sat 10th entering the final furlong keeping on at one pace. The 33/1 shot Yaxeni won by 1/2 a length.
The week gets underway with a meeting at a unique racecourse Laytown. Located in County Meath it's the only course in Europe to run races on a beach,it's a 7 furlong straight track that hosts racing on just one day a year due to the fact it's a temporary course. The highlight of this years 6 race card comes at 4.20 when 6 begin the Gilna's Cottage Inn Race. Raamez wasn't disgraced on his latest flat start at Roscommon in August. Despite finishing 9th in a big field he looks to have a good chance here. These Days is a fair horse who finished 7th at Dundalk when last seen in November last year, his yard is in good form and he should be respected on his return. Berliet Express last won in a handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan in August. He easily came home by 8 lengths and with this being his flat debut he should go well. An outsider to keep an eye on is Dalvey he was 5th in a claimer at Dundalk just 5 days ago and if he can find the form that saw him pick up his only victory on the flat at Gowran Park in June he could be a surprise winner.
Big race prediction: 6: Raamez.
