18/6/22 Royal Ascot + Down Royal

It was a day of differing fortunes for my picks,at Ascot El Caballo was 18th. The 7/2 joint favourite was at the rear of the near side group never being on terms. The other joint favourite Perfect Power beat Flaming Rib by 1 1/4 lengths. In the other race at the Royal meeting Inspiral won. Despite being slowly away the 15/8 favourite made headway a furlong out moving into the lead entering the final furlong. She ran on well to impressively win by 4 3/4 lengths. Over at Limerick Raise You was 2nd. The 4/5 favourite was at the rear making headway entering the straight. He moved between horses a furlong out going 2nd in the last 100 yards keeping on well without reaching the winner Earl Of Tyrone. The big race at Down Royal went to the 25/1 shot Sister Rosetta.

The weekend begins with 7 races on both the final day at Royal Ascot and at Down Royal with 3 main events.

Royal Ascot 3.40: Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)

3: Hurricane Lane: Had a brilliant season as a 3yo winning 3 group one’s including the Irish Derby and the English St Leger. He ran well when 3rd in the Arc at Longchamp on his final start back in October and will be hard to beat here if back to his best on this his reappearance.

Royal Ascot 4.20: Platinum Jubilee Stakes (Group 1)

13: Home Affairs: A high-class sprinter in his Australian homeland who won a Group 1 at Flemington in February edging out stablemate and winner of the King's Stand here Nature Strip. A big run should be on the cards completing an aussie double.

Down Royal 4.25: Boylesports Ulster Derby.

5: Cougar: A promising horse who was a good 3rd in a maiden at Navan 35 days ago. He goes up in trip to make his handicap debut and is a big player.
