21/6/22 Sligo

The week began on a decent note for my picks at Ballinrobe, in the 7.50 Secret Sea came 3rd. The 7/4 shot was 3rd three out making headway approaching the straight. She was challenging when hampered a furlong out and despite keeping on she made no impression in the closing stages, Merroir won the race by 1 1/4 lengths. The 8.20 saw Derry Lad also finish 3rd. The 100/30 favourite was in midfield pressing the leaders from 4 out. He was 2nd soon after making a challenge from two out. He had every chance but had no extra after losing 2nd inside the final furlong leaving Pike County to beat Beer With The Boys by 1 1/2 lengths.

We move onto Sligo on Tuesday for a 6 race card with two features.

6.10: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race.

4: Messa Concertata: A useful filly who last won at Tipperary back in April. She was a very good 4th in a handicap at Gowran Park when last seen 28 days ago. She led for a long way that day only being passed inside the final furlong. This shorter trip will suit and she gets the nod.

6.45: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.

2: Pretty Smart: Was a promising sixth in a handicap at Listowel 17 days ago. She was full of running at the finish catching the eye, she should capitalise on that here and has to be taken seriously.
