Thursday was an excellent day for both my picks at Navan, in the 1.15 Beauty Crescent won. The 10/11 favourite led early but was passed a furlong out. He was 2 lengths behind when he found himself short of room soon after but he ran on well to lead again in the final strides, he beat Congo River by a neck. The 2.25 saw Sioux Spirit also win. The 6/4 favourite tracked the leaders and was 6th 2 out. She made good headway approaching the final furlong leading in the last 150 yards. She asserted herself in the closing stages to beat Pop Star by 2 1/4 lengths.
A busy Friday sees seven races at both Tipperary and Down Royal where 3 contests stand out.
Tipperary 6.00: Coolmore Stud No Nay Never Fairy Bridge Stakes (Group 3)
4: Statement: A useful filly who was 4th in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom when last seen in June. That was an encouraging reappearance on her only start for trainer Kevin Ryan. She has since been sold to Joseph O’Brien and she is the best of his 4 here giving her the nod.
Tipperary 6.35: Abergwaun Stakes.
8: Ano Syra: A good horse who put in an excellent performance to finish 2nd behind Go Bears Go in the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh 3 weeks ago. A repeat of that could well be enough here back in listed company and she has to be taken seriously.
Down Royal 7.00: Linden Foods Hurdle.
4: Home By The Lee: A smart hurdler who has six wins in his career. He was last seen finishing a good 6th behind Flooring Porter in the Stayers Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Despite being off 162 days he is still the one to beat here.
