The midweek meeting at Gowran Park saw both my picks finish 4th, in the 1.20 Toughen Up led early but was soon strongly pressed. The 5/6 favourite was passed a furlong out having no extra and dropping to 4th in the last strides, Lady Onyx won the race beating Neowise by 1 1/2 lengths. The 3.05 saw Vadiana make progress to sit 5th two out. The 9/2 shot moved into 4th soon after but she had no extra in the final furlong, upfront Esculenta beat Fools Glory by a head.
Eight races take place at Clonmel on Thursday where two stand out.
5.18: Tote Fantasy Who's In Your Stable Handicap Hurdle.
13: Boom Boom Boom: A decent horse who's last run an 11th at Dundalk in December can be overlooked. He switches from the flat to make his handicap hurdle debut here for a yard in good form and given his progress since he last tackled obstacles he just gets the nod.
5.48: Camida Perfect Chemistry Rated Novice Hurdle.
2: Wasthatok: Made a winning start over hurdles at Kilbeggan 3 weeks ago asserting himself on the run-in and comfortably coming home by 6 lengths. With plenty more to come and further improvement expected he has strong claims and is the pick here.
