Friday's best came at Downpatrick where Vaucelet finished 2nd, the 4/6 favourite was 3rd early and sat 2nd 6 out. He disputed the lead 4 out leading soon after, he was passed 2 out making no impression in the closing stages keeping on at one pace. Billaway won the race by 3 lengths. In the big Group 3 at Leopardstown Emily Dickinson was 6th, the 2/5 favourite was prominent and led after 3 furlongs. She was passed early in the straight soon having no extra and weakening, upfront Yashin beat Point King by a short head.
Seven races at Wexford on Saturday kick off the weekend where there are two highlights.
2.15: Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Mares Handicap Hurdle.
1: Good As Hell: A course and distance winner who picked up her career best victory in a handicap chase at Tipperary when last seen 16 days ago,she just held on coming home by a nose. She switches to hurdles here and off a good mark can follow up.
4.00:Poolcourt Novice Chase
6: Uncle Phil: A useful winner over hurdles who was a very good 3rd at Punchestown 22 days ago. He recovered from a poor start going 3rd on the run-in, he should do a lot better over fences if he settles well and turn into a good chaser. With more to come he has an excellent chance of making a winning start in this sphere.
