The best on a very poor Wednesday at The Curragh came from Silmaniya who was 7th, the 9/2 joint favourite was always at the rear never threatening, upfront Run Ran Run beat Maria Branwell by a head. The 7.00 went worse with White Caviar finishing 10th in a race won by Nusret who beat Almuhit by 1/2 a length.
Thursday sees seven races at Leopardstown with two highlights.
6.30: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Glencairn Stakes.
5: Kerkiyra: A useful filly who ended 2022 on a high winning at The Curragh and finishing 2nd in the Trigo Stakes on this course in October. She was a respectable 3rd behind Insinuendo in the Park Express Stakes on her return 75 days ago and with her stable in good form and going back up in trip she is the pick here.
7.30: King George V Cup.
1: New Variant: A good horse who has 2 wins from 3 runs this year his latest being a career best at Naas 33 days ago. He was clear from a furlong out staying on well to come home by a very easy 10 lengths. That performance shows he is definitely ready for this step up in class and he can complete a hat-trick.
