On Friday at Dundalk Al Mudhaffar won, the 1/3 favourite tracked the leaders early moving to the front 2 out. He kept on well in the final furlong beating Natural Ruler by 2 lengths. In the other race Freescape was 2nd, the 9/2 shot led but was pressed a furlong out being passed 150 yards from the finish. He had no extra close to home allowing Real Appeal to win by 3/4 of a length.
A busy weekend begins on Saturday with 7 races at Gowran Park where there are 2 features.
3.55: Holden Plant Rentals Shamrock Handicap Chase.
1: Figaroc: A decent horse who was a good third at Thurles when last seen 25 days ago. He was fifth at halfway improving to take 3rd 4 out. Despite making no impression in the straight and keeping on at one pace he wasn’t disgraced and with progress expected on this his handicap chase debut he can return to winning ways.
5.05: INHSC Supporting Point-To-Points Tetratma Cup Hunters Chase.
4: Ramillies: A useful hurdler and chaser who ran better than the result suggests when 3rd at Naas a month ago. He led 3 times being passed decisively before the last dropping to 3rd in the closing stages. If recovered well then he should pick up his 4th career win here.
