An excellent Sunday at The Curragh saw all 3 of my picks win. In the Weld Park Stakes Heavens Gate was 5th at halfway challenging from 2 out, the 11/8 favourite led soon after and despite being strongly pressed she held on to beat Fiery Lucy by a neck. In the other Group 3 My Mate Alfie travelled well to lead in the final 150 yards, the 7/2 shot kept on well close to home beating Big Gossey by 3/4 of a length. The Irish Cesarewitch saw The Euphrates lead from 4 out soon going clear, the 7/2 favourite had a reduced advantage towards the finish but still managed to beat A Piece Of Heaven by 1/2 a length.
We move onto a Monday double header which sees 7 races at Down Royal and 8 at Roscommon with 2 highlights.
Down Royal 3.15: Irish EBF Auction Series Fillies Maiden.
14: WonderfulWonderful: A lightly-raced horse who improved when 3rd at Naas 11 days ago. She travelled well to lead for a second time 2 out but she was passed soon after dropping to 3rd in the final 150 yards. She has a good chance on form and can achieve a first career win here.
Roscommon 5.10: Ballymore Group Irish EBF Kilbegnet Novice Chase (Grade 3)
3: Jesse Evans: A promising horse who put in a career best performance to win at Galway on his last outing 3 weeks ago. He challenged from 2 out leading in the closing stages, he kept on well coming home by 2 1/4 lengths. With improvement expected he can follow up here.
