Our Saturday winner at Punchestown was Stellar Story. The 8/15 favourite was 2nd early leading from the 7th, he came under strong pressure 2 out but stayed on well on the run-in beating Search For Glory by a short head. In the days Grade 1 State Man was 2nd. The 4/9 favourite made headway from two out moving to the front approaching the last. He was passed inside the final furlong by Brighterdaysahead who won by 3/4 of a length.
Due to rain making parts of the track waterlogged and further bad weather forecast the meeting at Cork on Sunday has been abandoned but that does leave us with 8 races at Punchestown where there are 2 features.
1.50: Betvictor Craddockstown Novice Chase (Grade 2)
3: Farren Glory: A decent horse who has one win from two runs this season, That came at Naas on his last outing 2 weeks ago. He led early and despite having a reduced advantage from 2 out he asserted himself in the closing stages coming home by 7 1/2 lengths. He is the pick on form and can follow up here.
2.25: John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase (Grade 1)
3: Fastorslow: A horse with an excellent record who won this race on reappearance last year and took a second successive Gold Cup on this course in May. He had the reopposing Galopin Des Champs behind him on both occasions and should prove too strong again here as he attempts to defend his crown.
