Sunday's best came at Downpatrick where Maxios Prime was 2nd. The 4/1 shot made headway from 2 out going 2nd entering the straight, she kept on close to home without threatening Theflyingbee who won by a length. Over at Gowran Park Empress Artemis was 5th in a race won by Declaree who beat Four Blondes by a neck.
We begin a new week on Monday with 8 races at Kilbeggan where 2 stand out.
6.48: Paul & Carmel Fay Memorial Handicap Hurdle.
7: Straight Home: A decent horse who was last seen finishing a creditable 4th at Ballinrobe 3 weeks ago. She was in midfield early but wasn't fluent from 3 out, she recovered slightly staying on from the last and taking 4th close to home. She should continue her good recent form here and with her stable having a fine run can win again.
7.48: Belvedere House & Gardens Galway Plate Trial Handicap Chase.
3: Marv Michael: A promising horse who picked up a career best win on this course 31 days ago. He led for a second time before the last asserting himself entering the straight and easily coming home by 12 lengths. Despite a weight rise he is a big player who can follow up here.
