An excellent Sunday saw both my picks win. At Navan Star Of Sapphire was 5th at halfway improving to challenge 1 1/2 furlongs out, the 4/5 favourite led soon after keeping on well and beating All Hail by 3 lengths. Over at Sligo Radar Ahead was 4th approaching halfway and despite a couple of mistakes recovered to dispute the lead before the last, the 3/1 shot went clear staying on strongly and comfortably beating Spick And Span by 5 1/2 lengths.
We begin a new week with 7 races at both Downpatrick and Killarney with 2 main events.
Downpatrick 4.28: Downpatrick Racecourse Family Funday Supporters Handicap Chase.
1: Gorthill: A useful horse in hunter chases who disappointed on the flat at Bellewstown 11 days ago. He never recovered from a poor start making no impression from 2 out. That can be overlooked and he gets the vote on handicap chase debut and he can pick up a 2nd career win.
Killarney 5.45: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.
1: Tribal Nation: A decent horse who has shown improvement in his last two outings including a 6th in the Britannia at Royal Ascot last time. He made headway from a furlong out keeping on well without troubling the leaders. He is hard to look past here and can get back to winning ways.
