On Friday both my picks finished 3rd. At Fairyhouse River Vale led early but after a mistake the 5/2 favourite was strongly pressed from 2 out being passed at the last with Kingkong Ciergues winning beating Lough Nigara by 2 1/4 lengths. Over at Dundalk Golden Trigger tracked the leaders sitting 3rd at halfway, the 13/8 favourite challenged from a furlong out and a chance but had no extra close to home. Evening Blues won beating Minella Rockett by a short head.
On Saturday there are 8 races at Punchestown where 2 take centre stage.
1.05: Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase (Grade 2.)
6: Rocky's Diamond: A smart horse who won on chase debut at Galway and was then 2nd in a listed race at Wexford 26 days ago. He led early and despite not being fluent he was 2 lengths clear three out, he had a reduced lead and was passed in the closing stages going down by 3/4 of a length. He sets the standard here and with further improvement likely he can win again.
2.10: Unibet Morgiana Hurdle (Grade 1.)
4: Lossiemouth: A top-class horse who remained unbeaten at Cheltenham when taking the Mares Hurdle in March by 7 1/2 lengths, she followed up in good style winning a Grade 1 at Aintree on her final outing. She should have another standout season and she can begin it here by winning her 8th grade one over hurdles.
