Saturday's winner at Gowran Park was Downmexicoway. The 5/2 favourite sat fifth at halfway disputing the lead entering the straight, he led from 2 out and despite being strongly pressed approaching the last he asserted himself in the closing stages beating Drumgill by 3 lengths. The days other pick Lantry Lady was 6th in a race won by Break My Soul who beat Qualimita by 3 1/2 lengths.
An 8 race card takes place at Naas on Sunday where 2 stand out.
2.27: SIS Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle.
5: Spillane's Tower: A high-class chaser who was last seen finishing 2nd behind Galopin Des Champs in the Grade 1 Punchestown Gold Cup in April. He recovered from a bad mistake 4 out to take 2nd soon after keeping on but making no impression. He returns to hurdles here and gets the vote on his season debut.
3.02: Barberstown Castle Chase (Grade 3.)
5: Inthepocket: A smart horse who won on chase debut at Wexford in October last year. He was 3rd behind the reopposing Ile Atlantique in a Grade 2 over course and distance when last seen in January. He was fifth early improving to take 3rd two out keeping on at one pace on the run-in. He is better than that result suggests and with more to offer as a chaser he can pick up a 5th career win here.
