Wednesday's winner at Punchestown was El Fabiolo. The 6/4 favourite was 4 lengths clear at the 4th but had a reduced advantage from 3 out, he asserted himself before the last keeping on well on the run-in and easily beating Glen Kiln by 8 1/2 lengths. The days other pick A Dream To Share was 3rd in a race won by Hinden Arden who beat San Hilario by 1 1/2 lengths.
The first day of 2026 sees 7 races at both Tramore and Fairyhouse with 2 standing out.
Tramore 2.25: O'Driscoll's Irish Whisky New Year’s Day Chase (Grade 3.)
5: Heart Wood: An excellent horse who's last win came in a Grade 3 at Punchestown in October. He disputed the lead 2 out getting to the front at the last, he kept on well coming home by 1 3/4 lengths. His latest outing was a 4th behind Gaelic Warrior in the John Durkan on the same course at the end of November and he is the one to beat here.
Fairyhouse 2.45: YellowFord& Drumlin John & Chich Fowler Memorial Irish EBF Mares Chase (Grade 3.)
2: Dinoblue: A good horse who completed a hat-trick at Punchestown in May. She recovered from a bad mistake to finish 2nd in the Fortria Chase at Navan on her return and now back in mares company she can quickly resume winning ways.
As this is my last post of 2025 I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and wish you a happy new year.
