Friday's winner at Dundalk was Nikki Swango. The 6/1 shot was sixth at halfway improving to challenge 2 out, she led narrowly inside the final furlong just holding on to beat Little Empire by a short head. The other pick This Guy finished 2nd. The 5/4 favourite led early but was passed close to home by Midnight Dusk who won by 1 1/4 lengths.
On Saturday there are 8 races at Thurles where 2 stand out.
12.47: Billy Harney Memorial Irish EBF Boreen Belle Mares Novice Hurdle.
7: Korinthia: A promising horse who won on hurdles debut at Ballinrobe in September. She was 3rd two out improving to lead soon after, she asserted herself close to home winning by 2 3/4 lengths. She built on that when 3rd in a Grade 3 at Down Royal 50 days ago and with more still to come she can resume winning ways here.
1.22: WTW Willis Handicap Hurdle.
8: Fiver Friday: A good horse who ran well on his first start for a new yard finishing 3rd at The Curragh in October. He was at the rear early making headway to lead from a furlong out, he was passed in the closing stages dropping to 3rd and having no extra. That race was on the flat so a return to hurdles here will suit and he can pick up a 6th career win.
