25/6/22 The Curragh

The big weekend at The Curragh began on a decent note for my picks,in the 6.43 Wordsworth was 3rd. The 85/40 favourite was 2nd at halfway challenging entering the straight. He was 3rd a furlong out keeping on at one pace inside the final furlong, upfront Camorra won by a length. The 7.18 saw Common Practice win. The 3/1 favourite was prominent chasing the leader from a furlong out. He kept on well inside the closing stages leading close to home, he beat Alma Libre by 1/2 a length.

It's day 2 at The Curragh on Saturday with three highlights.

3.05: GAIN Railway Stakes (Group 2)

3: Blackbeard: Has picked up 3 wins from 4 runs this year and was unlucky to loose his unbeaten run when 4th in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot 11 days ago. He wasn't disgraced there and should get back to winning ways here.

3.45: Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Group 1)

8: Tuesday: Ran well in both 1,000 Guineas races finishing 3rd at Newmarket and 2nd on this course. She then moved onto Epsom where she won the Oaks 3 weeks ago. The step up to 1 1/2 miles didn't faze her and she stayed on well to beat the favourite Emily Upjohn by a short head. There should be more to come over this trip and she can give her trainer Aidan O’Brien a 15th win in this race.

4.20: Arm Holding International Stakes (Group 3)

4: Rumbles Of Thunder: Was a listed winner in France and scored in similar company for new connections at Gowran Park last month. She had a bit in hand that day and is more than capable of holding her own here.
