26/1/24 Dundalk

The best on a poor Thursday at Gowran Park came from Thedevilscoachman who was 4th, the 5/4 favourite was 2nd at halfway and despite a slight mistake 4 out he made headway to briefly dispute the lead 2 out. He dropped to the rear before the last weakening on the run-in while upfront Monkfish won beating Summerville Boy by 5 1/2 lengths. In the Goffs Thyestes Dunboyne failed to finish being pulled up before the last, Ain't That A Shame won beating Glengouly by 2 1/2 lengths.

There are 8 races at Dundalk on Friday night with 2 highlights.

5.00: Dundalk Winter Series Leading Trainer & Jockey Championship Race.

6: Elegant Man: A decent-looking horse who won over course and distance on debut in October. He confirmed that promise when second in a listed race at Kempton 44 days ago, he made headway entering the final furlong taking 2nd close to home. There is more to come and despite going back down in trip he can win again.

6.30: Put The Fun In Fundraising At Dundalk Handicap.

2: Blue Soul: A lightly-raced horse who was a good third on this course when last seen 37 days ago. She travelled well taking 3rd inside the final furlong and despite keeping on well close to home she couldn't reach the leaders. She goes back up in trip here and with more to offer she can pick up her 1st career win.
