The best performance on Wednesday at Navan came from Mathan who was 2nd. The 5/4 favourite disputed the lead at halfway but was passed a furlong out, he made no impression in the closing stages allowing Bodhi Bear to win by 1 3/4 lengths. In the other race Snapdragon was 3rd with the contest going to New Theory who beat Turners Cross by a neck.
On Thursday we have 7 races at Clonmel with 2 standing out.
3.03: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle.
10: Tareze: A lightly-raced horse who ran well to finish 2nd in a couple of races at Punchestown at the beginning of this year before finding the step up to Grade 1 level too much at Fairyhouse when last seen back in March. This is clearly an easier race and with sights lowered here this is a good opportunity for her to open her account.
3.38: Rathgormack Handicap Hurdle.
5: Old Bill Barley: Continued his progression when 3rd at Tipperary 18 days ago. He was 2nd at halfway leading from 3 out, he had challengers soon after and was passed 2 out. He kept on well on the run-in but dropped to 3rd close to home. He should continue his good recent form here and pick up a 2nd career win.
