The best on a poor Friday came in the Group 3 at Dundalk where Albasheer was 5th in a race won by Ostraka who beat Powerful Nation by a head. Over at Sligo The Story So Far was 6th with Great Universe taking the contest beating Machismo by an easy 7 lengths.
The weekend begins with 7 races at Galway on Saturday where there are 2 main events.
2.28: Connolly's Red Mills Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle.
6: Kish Bank: A decent horse who made a winning debut under rules in a bumper at Punchestown last December. He was 2nd approaching halfway leading narrowly from 4 out, he had a reduced advantage close to home but still won by 3/4 of a length. He is a good prospect who should follow up here on his 1st hurdles start.
4.13: W.B. Gavin & Co Handicap Hurdle.
4: Hgranca De Thaix: A smart horse who picked up a career best win at Punchestown when last seen in May. He tracked the leaders sitting 2nd five out, he challenged from 2 out leading on the run-in and coming home by 4 lengths. He switches to hurdles here and can complete a hat-trick.
