1/2/25 Leopardstown

The best on another poor day at Dundalk came from Mo Ghille Mar who was 5th. The 11/2 shot was 2nd early dropping to 3rd at halfway, she weakened soon after being eased down in the final furlong. Upfront Persian Bliss won beating Golden Temple by a neck. The other pick Lady Plimsoll was 12th in a race won by Snapaurum who beat Athlumney Warrior by 3 1/2 lengths.

The Dublin Racing Festival begins at Leopardstown on Saturday with 7 contests and 3 Grade one’s taking centre stage.

1.15: Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle (Grade 1)

1: Final Demand: A good-looking prospect who impressed when winning on hurdles debut at Limerick 35 days ago. He led early but was 3rd at halfway, he led for a second time from 4 out asserting himself entering the straight going clear from 2 out and easily coming home by 15 lengths. He is worth his place at this level and with improvement expected he can follow up here.

2.55: Goffs Irish Arkle Novice Chase (Grade 1)

6: Majborough: A top-class horse who was 3rd in a Grade 1 on this card last year before moving on to win the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. He followed up by winning on chase debut on his return at Fairyhouse in December and should complete a hat-trick here.

3.30: Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1)

4: Galopin Des Champs: An outstanding horse who looked back to his best when winning the Savills Chase on this course over Christmas. He made all the running asserting himself on the run-in drawing clear in the closing stages beating the reopposing Fact To File by 7 1/2 lengths. He should make it a hat-trick of wins in this race before trying to do the same in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
