Irish racing returns on Thursday with 8 contests at Punchestown where 2 stand out.
2.25: Quinnbet Grand National Trial Handicap Chase.
1: Velvet Elvis: A fair horse who ran his best race to date when a very good 2nd in the Grade 3 Goffs Thyestes at Gowran Park a month ago. He led for a second time entering the straight being passed 2 out keeping on at the same pace going down by 2 1/4 lengths. He can build on that here and should go one better.
3.25: Betvictor Quevega Mares Hurdle (Grade 3)
4: Gaoth Chuil: A useful hurdler who was a good 2nd in a listed race at Leopardstown when last seen 19 days ago. She made headway from 2 out briefly disputing the lead at the last, she was 2nd on the run-in making no further impression. With fitness on her side she looks the pick here and can achieve a fifth career win.
