3/2/25 Punchestown

A good Sunday at Leopardstown saw 2 of my picks win. In the early Grade 1 Ballyburn sat 2nd early leading from 2 out, the 8/13 favourite was passed at the last but rallied to lead for a second time inside the final furlong staying on strongly to beat Croke Park by 5 lengths. The other winner was State Man. The 5/4 shot sat 2nd but was left clear when Lossiemouth fell at the 6th. He was further in front entering the straight being eased down inside the final furlong easily beating Daddy Long Legs by 6 1/2 lengths. The 3rd pick El Fabiolo failed to finish falling at the 2nd.

There are 8 races at Punchestown on Monday with 2 features.

1.30: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Chase.

5: Splashing Out: A useful winner over hurdles who was a promising 2nd in a novice chase at Tramore when last seen 33 days ago. She was 4th three out improving into 2nd on the run-in keeping on at one pace. She goes significantly up in trip here on her handicap chase debut and with improvement expected she can pick up a 2nd career win.

3.05: Ladbrokes Play '1-2- Free' On Football Novice Handicap Hurdle.

1: Balko D'ange: A decent horse who achieved a career best win in a listed race at Limerick 36 days ago. He tracked the leaders making progress to lead from 3 out, despite a slight mistake he was soon 2 lengths clear keeping on well and coming home by 1 1/2 lengths. He makes his handicap hurdle debut here and can follow up.
