A decent Saturday at Naas saw both my picks finish 2nd. Koori Star disputed the lead early sitting 3rd after the fifth, she improved into 2nd before the last keeping on well on the run-in but losing to Scalpnagoon by 1 1/2 lengths. In the other race Allegorie De Vassy led for a second time before the fifth being passed at the last, the 5/6 favourite railed but couldn't reach Dinoblue who won by a neck.
Seven races take place at Navan on Sunday where there are 2 features.
2.40: William Hill Top Price Guarantee Boyne Hurdle (Grade 2)
6: Thedevilscoachman: A smart hurdler who has been a course winner in his career. He was a creditable 2nd in the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park when last seen 17 days ago. He sat 3rd approaching the last keeping on well to take 2nd close to home. If he reproduces that performance then he is the one to beat here and should go one better.
3.45: William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Novice Chase (Grade 2)
3: Better Days Ahead: A promising horse who has one win from three runs this season, that came on this course in November taking a beginners chase beating Slade Steel by 4 lengths. He was a very close second behind Croke Park in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown on Boxing day just going down by a head. There should be further improvement and he can get back to winning ways here.
