On Wednesday at Cork both my picks finished 2nd. In the opener Rosie Frith led early going 2 lengths clear a furlong out, the 7/1 shot had a reduced advantage in the final 100 yards being caught on the line by L L Koulsky who won by a nose. Strike Zone was 2nd 1 1/2 out soon making no impression allowing Charles Fort to win by 4 lengths.
On Thursday there are 8 races at Clonmel with 2 standing out.
4.02: Slievenamon Maiden.
12: So Golden: A lightly-raced filly who was 3rd at Tramore when last seen 26 days ago. She led early but was passed 2 out making no impression soon after. She goes down in trip here which isn't a concern and she can improve further opening her account.
6.45: John Thomas McNamara Series (Q.R.) Handicap.
6: Takarengo: A course and distance winner in his career who finished a creditable 3rd at Bellewstown 2 weeks ago. He recovered from a poor start making headway 4 out, he led but was passed 1 1/2 furlongs from the finish keeping on at one pace. He has a good chance on form and he can pick up a 6th victory.
