On Monday at Galway both my picks finished 2nd. In the 4.50 Run For Oscar was at the rear early being hampered 4 out, he recovered slightly but had no extra before the last allowing Lord Erskine to easily win by 14 lengths. In the other race Arctic Gale made headway from 3 out and despite ralling in the final 110 yards he failed to reach Solly Attwell who won by 1 1/4 lengths.
There is a second day at Galway on Tuesday where on an 8 race card there are 2 highlights.
5.35: Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies Maiden.
1: Blue Blue Moon: A well-bred horse who was 5th behind Daytona in a listed race at Naas on debut 66 days ago. She was at the rear early improving to sit 6th at halfway, she soon made no impression taking 5th a furlong out. She should progress here in what looks like an easier race and open her account.
6.35: Ardilaun Hotel Irish EBF Oyster Stakes.
13: Island Hopping: A useful filly who was last seen finishing a creditable 2nd in a group 3 at Cork 26 days ago. She led early being strongly pressed a furlong out, she was passed in the final 150 yards only going down by 1/2 a length. She will build on that here finally picking up a 2nd career win.
