An excellent Thursday at Punchestown saw both my picks win. Powerful was always in touch sitting 3rd four out, the 10/11 favourite improved challenging close to home leading in the final strides beating Zuzukel by a short head. In the other race Yeshil made all the running despite not jumping well, the 4/6 favourite had a reduced lead at the last but kept on strongly to beat Vitorio Piel by 1 1/2 lengths.
Seven races take place at Dundalk on Friday where 2 stand out.
5.30: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.
1: Amiata: A decent horse who's last win came at Navan in August. He travelled well challenging from a furlong out, he led in the final 150 yards keeping on and coming home by 1 1/4 lengths. His handicap debut at Naas last time where he finished 5th can be discounted and on form he has a good chance to resume winning ways here.
6.00: Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
9: Dontspoilasale: A smart horse who won this race last year by 3 1/4 lengths. His latest victory came on the beach at Laytown in September where he led for a second time 2 1/2 out and despite being pressed he stayed on well winning by 1/2 a length. He last ran here just 2 days ago finishing 4th but the quick turnaround shouldn't be a problem and he can defend his crown achieving a 4th career win.
