A good Saturday at Naas saw both my picks win. In the 3.10 Last Encore travelled well making headway to lead a furlong out, the 11/4 favourite stayed on well in the closing stages to beat Smoke Them Out by 1/2 a length. In the days listed race My Mate Alfie sat 2nd 1 1/2 furlongs out, the 5/2 favourite led narrowly entering the final furlong beating Thunderbear by 3/4 of a length. Over at Fairyhouse Bella Be Good failed to finish being pulled up before the 8th.
Sunday sees 7 contests at Cork but 3 on an 8 race card at Naas take centre stage.
2.50: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Garnet Stakes.
16: Sakti: A useful filly who was last seen finishing 4th behind Tarawa in the Group 3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes at The Curragh 6 weeks ago. She was 5th at halfway moving into 4th a furlong out. Her stable is in good form and she can pick up her 2nd career win here.
3.25: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes.
8: Caught U Looking: A decent horse who finished a respectable 3rd in a Group 3 at Gowran Park on her last outing 22 days ago. She was prominent early but had dropped to 3rd a furlong out, despite having no extra in the final 100 yards it was still a good performance. She goes back up in trip here and should get her 1st win of the year.
4.00: Colm White Bookmaker Beggar's End Handicap.
2: Chemistry: A lightly-raced horse who was a very good 2nd at Leopardstown 29 days ago. Despite being no match for his stablemate Fighter he was well clear of the rest and going up in trip here can see him return to winning ways.
The highlight at Cork is the 4.20 where my pick is number 1 The Banger Doyle.
