28/12/25 Limerick & Leopardstown

Saturday's only winner came at Limerick where The Big Westerner led early but was challenged entering the straight, the 11/8 shot got to the front for a second time soon after keeping on well and beating Jade De Grugy by 2 3/4 lengths. Over at Leopardstown Marine Nationale was 2nd. He strongly pressed the leader and had every chance in the closing stages but couldn't reach Solness who won by 1/2 a length. The days other pick Love Me Tender was 3rd with the contest going to Skylight Hustle who beat Carrigmoornaspruce by 5 lengths.

On Sunday there are seven races at both Limerick and Leopardstown with 3 Grade one's taking centre stage.

Limerick 1.40: Guinness 00 Faugheen Novice Chase ( Grade 1.)

1: Final Demand: A decent horse who's last win came on chase debut at Navan in November. He was 2nd early leading from 2 out, he stayed on strongly easily coming home by 13 lengths. He should follow up here and give his trainer a third straight win in this race.

Leopardstown 1.55: Christmas Hurdle (Grade 1.)

1: Ballyburn: A top-class horse who finished 2nd on his hurdles return in the Hatton’s Grace at Fairyhouse 4 weeks ago. He was second before the last just failing to reach the reopposing Teahupoo who won by a nose. He can reverse those placings here and pick up a 9th career win.

Leopardstown 2.30: Savills Chase (Grade 1.)

5: Galopin Des Champs: A standout horse who is 7 from 7 over fences here including taking the last two runnings of this race. His latest win was an easy 22 length success in the Punchestown Gold Cup back in April and he is the one to beat here on his return.
