A good Wednesday at Gowran Park saw Mister Mister finish 3rd,the 11/8 favourite was 6th at halfway moving up to 3rd 1 1/2 furlongs out. He drifted to the right soon after but kept on well in the closing stages just failing to grab 2nd,National Emblem won the race by 1/2 a length. In the 2.25 Touching Clouds won, the 6/4 favourite was prominent sitting 2nd at halfway. She led narrowly from 2 out and despite being strongly pressed she kept on well under pressure in the final furlong holding on to beat Accomplished by a neck.

5.50: Clonmel Handicap.

7: Dartington: A decent horse who finished 4th in a novice hurdle at Sligo when last seen a month ago. He has some useful form on the flat and should be a big factor here resuming winning ways.

7: Harry's Legacy: Has two wins from four runs this year his latest came at Killarney in July. He was a good 4th on the same course two weeks ago despite being slowly away, his decent form should continue as he goes back up in trip here. 5: Uhtred: A useful hurdler who has one win from two runs this season, that victory was a career best on this course 22 days ago. He pulled clear on the run-in to easily come home by 8 lengths and he looks like the one to beat on this his chase debut.

27/8/22 The Curragh

After such a good day on Thursday Friday was a poor one for my picks, the best finisher was Ano Syra who was 4th. The 4/1 shot tracked the leaders sitting 4th two out. She kept on at one pace making no impression in the final 100 yards, Tees Spirit won the race beating Erosandpsyche by a nose. In the Group 3 at Tipperary Statement was a non-runner in a race won by Agartha while at Down Royal Home By The Lee failed to finish. The 5/2 chance was 3rd two out and still had every chance when he found himself short of room and ran out of bounds. The race was won by Salvador Ziggy who beat Off You Go by a short head.

There are four big races at The Curragh on Saturday and in my opinion 3 stand out.

2.30: Heider Family Stables Round Tower Stakes (Group 3)

10: Treasure Trove: A useful filly who after finishing 2nd on this course in a listed race went on to pick up her career best win at York a week ago. She beat Rocket Rodney by 1 3/4 lengths being well on top at the finish. She should continue her good form here and is the one to beat.

3.40: Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes (Group 3)

3: Juncture: A decent horse who was last seen finishing second behind Boundless Ocean in the Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown 16 days ago. She was well clear of the rest there and with her yard in good form she can resume winning ways here.

4.15: Paddy Power Supporting Cancer Trials Ireland Irish Cambridgeshire.

26: That's Just Dandy: A horse in consistent form who was last seen finishing a good 3rd in the opening Racing League contest at Doncaster 23 days ago. He hit the front too early that day but still ran well and with his trainer having a good spell he has to be taken seriously here.

26/8/22 Tipperary + Down Royal

Thursday was an excellent day for both my picks at Navan, in the 1.15 Beauty Crescent won. The 10/11 favourite led early but was passed a furlong out. The 6/4 favourite tracked the leaders and was 6th 2 out. She made good headway approaching the final furlong leading in the last 150 yards.  A busy Friday sees seven races at both Tipperary and Down Royal where 3 contests stand out.

Tipperary 6.00: Coolmore Stud No Nay Never Fairy Bridge Stakes (Group 3)

4: Statement: A useful filly who was 4th in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom when last seen in June. That was an encouraging reappearance on her only start for trainer Kevin Ryan. She has since been sold to Joseph O’Brien and she is the best of his 4 here giving her the nod.

Tipperary 6.35: Abergwaun Stakes.

8: Ano Syra: A good horse who put in an excellent performance to finish 2nd behind Go Bears Go in the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh 3 weeks ago. A repeat of that could well be enough here back in listed company and she has to be taken seriously.

Down Royal 7.00: Linden Foods Hurdle.

4: Home By The Lee: A smart hurdler who has six wins in his career. He was last seen finishing a good 6th behind Flooring Porter in the Stayers Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Despite being off 162 days he is still the one to beat here.

1: Beauty Crescent: Showed lot’s of promise when placed in a couple of early-season contests, his last run was a good 3rd on this course back in May. He has been gelded since and wears blinkers for the first time so he can take a step forward and get off the mark.

2.25: Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden.

8: Sioux Spirit: A filly with two runs under her belt who was 3rd at The Curragh 12 days ago. She ran well in a big-field and dropping back to 5f here will definitely suit. Her stable is in good form and she sets the standard giving her the vote.

Tuesday wasn't a bad day for my picks at Bellewstown, in the 5.15 Ocean Of Mercy was 2nd. The 5/4 favourite was 3rd early moving into 2nd 3 out. He was challenging when he made a mistake at the last and he had no extra on the run-in allowing Pale Blue Dot to win by 1 3/4 lengths. The 6.45 saw Telecon come 4th. The 7/2 chance was in touch moving into 4th four out. He was 2nd but made a slight mistake 3 out and he made no impression soon after.  Bellewstown stages the midweek meeting with 8 races and two highlights.

4.10: Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden.

2: Betterdaysrcoming: A lightly-raced horse who was a good second at Roscommon when last seen 9 days ago. He was suited by the increase in trip that day and with cheekpieces on for the 1st time and better to come he should get off the mark here.

7.40: Panda Power (Q.R.) Handicap.

1: Jesse Evans: A decent winner on both the flat and over hurdles who was a good second behind Tudor City when last seen in the Galway Hurdle 27 days ago. 3: Ocean Of Mercy: Hasn't shown his best in bumpers on his last two starts but had some useful form before that. He is an interesting contender upped in trip for this his hurdles debut and should make the successful switch giving him the vote.

6.45: Bective Stud Mullacurry Handicap Hurdle.

4: Telecon: A promising horse who after making an impressive winning hurdles debut at Ballinrobe in July finished 8th behind Flaming Moon in a listed race at Galway a month ago. 4.00: Victoria House Tramore Mares Beginners Chase.

5: Inclusion: Was last seen finishing 6th in a bumper at Worcester in April last year. He has been off 15 months but this is his chase debut and first run for Willie Mullins so he is worth a chance to make a winning start over fences.

2: Tune The Chello: Should have taken this race 12 months ago but an error at the last ended her challenge. Her reappearance run where she finished 10th at Limerick 25 days ago was needed and with improvement definitely on the cards she can go one better in this renewal.

The 100/30 chance was in midfield early making progress from 2 out. He kept on well on the run-in going 4th close to home. Upfront Noble Birth beat Not So Simple by 1 1/4 lengths.

8/8/22 Ballinrobe

Sunday was a decent day for both my picks at Downpatrick, in the 3.00 Dollar Value was 3rd. The 15/8 favourite made good headway to lead after the 2nd. He was 8 lengths clear at halfway but had a reduced lead from 2 out. He was passed approaching the last and had no extra on the run-in, Uhtred won the race by 8 lengths. The 4.00 saw Park Hind also finish 3rd. The 11/2 shot was prominent making a strong challenge from 2 out. She kept on but soon had no extra losing second close to home. Lighthouse Rose won beating Aprils Joy by 2 3/4 lengths.

Seven races at Ballinrobe on Monday begin another week with 2 main events.

7.25: Connolly's Red Mills Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle.

9: She Is Electric: Was a promising 4th at Galway on her hurdles debut 11 days ago. This lightly-raced mare has the edge on form and with improvement expected she can open her account here.

8.30: Burleigh Accountancy Handicap Hurdle.

3: Bronson In Blue: Picked up his latest win at Hexham in March and was a good 5th when last seen at Uttoxeter 43 days ago. Definitely has to be taken seriously here off a 7lb lower mark as he attempts to win his third race of the year.

7/8/22 Downpatrick

In Saturday's group races at The Curragh Power Under Me was a non-runner in a contest won by Go Bears Go and in the Group 1 Bradsell was 4th. The 11/8 favourite had a poor start but made headway from halfway sitting 3rd two out. He made no impression from a furlong out soon having no extra,he grabbed 4th close to home while upfront Little Big Bear beat Persian Force by an easy 7 lengths. Over at Kilbeggan Jack Hackett came 3rd, the 3/1 favourite was in touch going 2nd after the 4th. He went clear with the winner after the last but had no extra losing 2nd on the run-in. Arrycon won the race by 3 1/4 lengths.

Seven races take place at Downpatrick on Sunday with two highlights.

3.00: Randox Health Rated Hurdle.

1: Dollar Value: A good horse who won this race 12 months ago and he looked better than ever when winning a handicap here in June. That was his 3rd win in three visits and he should make a bold bid as he attempts to defend his crown.

4.00: Tote Always Sp Or Better At Downpatrick Mares Handicap Hurdle.

7: Park Hind: Finally confirmed her hurdling debut form when second at Ballinrobe 19 days ago. She led before the last but was passed on the line losing  by a nose. She has cheekpieces on here for the 1st time which should help and she can pick up her first win.

6/8/22 The Curragh + Kilbeggan

In the big race at Tipperary on Friday Hellsing won,the 9/4 favourite was 5th at halfway challenging from a furlong out. He soon disputed the lead and despite being bumped in the final 150 yards he moved to the front close to home beating Papilio by 1/2 a length. Over at Wexford Direct Image failed to finish. The 5/2 favourite wasn't fluent from the 3rd dropping to the rear after the 7th. She soon became detached and was pulled up before the 8th. Avec Espoir won the race by 1 1/4 lengths.

The weekend begins with 8 races at The Curragh and 7 at Kilbeggan on Saturday with two big group contests among the features.

The Curragh 3.15: Rathasker Stud Phoenix Sprint Stakes (Group 3)

3: Power Under Me: A smart horse who has been a course and distance winner in his career. He travelled well to finish a strong 3rd behind Teresa Mendoza in a listed race here 42 days ago giving him the nod in this cracking race.

The Curragh 4.15: Keenland Phoenix Stakes (Group 1)

3: Bradsell: Made it 2 wins from 2 runs when taking the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot 53 days ago. He beat another in this field Persian Force by 1 1/2 lengths and with more to offer he can maintain his unbeaten record here.

Kilbeggan 7.55: Kilmurray's Homevalue Hardware Mullingar Handicap Chase.

1: Jack Hackett: A course winner who was a good 3rd here when last seen 29 days ago. The longer trip in that race didn't suit but he enjoys running here and with Rachael Blackmore on board he is my pick.

5/8/22 Tipperary + Wexford

Thursday wasn't a bad day for my picks, at Sligo Dartington was 4th. The 7/4 favourite tracked the leaders and was 4th at halfway. He made a bad mistake 2 out and made  no impression on the run-in, upfront Faron beat Weddell Sea by 1/2 a length. In the big Group 3 at Leopardstown Cleveland finished 2nd. The 3/1 shot was 4th at halfway improving to 3rd entering the straight. He was 2nd a furlong out keeping on well in the final 100 yards just failing to reach the winner Gear Up who came home by a neck.

There are two more meetings on Friday to round off the week with seven races at both Tipperary and Wexford where 2 stand out.

Tipperary 6.45: Coolmore Stud Churchill Stakes.

2: Hellsing: A promising horse who has 1 win from 2 runs this year, that came on Debut at The Curragh in May and he was then an excellent 2nd behind Proud And Regal in the Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown 2 weeks ago. That was his first run in group company and with more to come he sets the standard here.

Wexford 7.00: Support The Irish Injured Jockeys Opportunity Handicap Chase.

5: Direct Image: Extended his winning run to 5 when taking handicap hurdles at Tipperary and Punchestown this season. Makes his fences return here and is hard to oppose giving him every chance to make it 6 in a row.

4/8/22 Sligo + Leopardstown

Wednesday was a decent day for my picks at Sligo, in the 6.30 Bay Of Bengal was 5th. The 13/8 favourite was 3rd at halfway making headway between horses entering the straight. She was briefly 2nd from a furlong out but she made no impression in the final 100 yards while in a close finish Corky beat Disco Boots by a short head. The 7.00 saw Queen Of Ours win. The 8/11 favourite made all the running and was two lengths clear entering the straight. She kept on well in the final furlong to beat She's Local by 1 3/4 lengths.

A Thursday double header sees 7 races at Sligo and 8 at Leopardstown with two main events.

Sligo 5.30: Kilcawley Construction Rated Novice Hurdle.

1: Dartington: A useful hurdler who won twice this year before finishing a respectable 11th in a handicap at The Curragh 19 days ago. He enjoys running over hurdles having won 3 of his last 6 starts and he has a good shout here.

Leopardstown 6.15: Grant Thornton Ballyroan Stakes (Group 3)

3: Cleveland: A promising horse who maintained his good recent form when a creditable 2nd in the Copper Horse Stakes at Royal Ascot 51 days ago. Despite being no match for the winner there he has good claims here back in group company on his first start for Joseph O’Brien.

5.25: J. F. Hanley Groundscare Beginners Chase.

4: Homme D'un Soir: A 2 time hurdles winner over this races trip who was a bit below form when 6th at Cartmel 17 days ago. Looking at the rest of the field this could be a good starting point for him over fences giving him the nod.

8.00: Paul Byron Shoes Handicap Hurdle.

9: Lucailem: Was a very good 3rd at Tipperary when last seen 75 days ago. With more to come this 6yo should go close here and pick up his first career win.
