1/7/22 Bellewstown + Wexford

On Thursday at Bellewstown All Things Nice won,the 1/1 favourite led early but was challenged from 3 out. She regained the lead a furlong out and despite being strongly pressed close to home she held on to beat Semantics by a head. In the big race at Tipperary Celestial Horizon failed to finish, the 28/1 shot was at the rear at halfway. He had no extra from 4 out and he was pulled up soon after. Santa Rossa won the race beating Sole Pretender by 3 lengths.

Two more meetings take place on Friday evening with 7 races at both Bellewstown and Wexford with two features.

Bellewstown 6.00: Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden.

4: Lakota Seven: A promising horse who was 2nd at Down Royal on debut 2 weeks ago. Despite things not going his way that day the experience should see him improve and with his stable in good form he gets the vote.

Wexford 7.45: Molloy Metals Wexford Gaa Raceday Handicap Chase.

12: Crazywork De Vassy: A recent point winner who was 3rd in a hunter chase at Cork when last seen under rules 74 days ago. That was his return after a long break and with blinkers back on here he definitely deserves consideration and is the pick.

30/6/22 Bellewstown + Tipperary

Wednesday saw results at both ends of the scale for my picks at Tipperary, the 4.40 saw Chocquinto finish 6th. The 12/1 chance was prominent early but made no impression in 4th a furlong out. She had no extra inside the final furlong weakening, the favourite Moss Tucker won by a neck. In the big listed race of the night The Antarctic was 3rd. The 10/11 favourite had a poor start but was soon tracking the leaders. He was 4th when switched to the left a furlong out gaining a place. He challenged and had every chance in the final 75 yards keeping on well but just failing to reach the winner Wadao who came home by a nose.

There is a double header on Thursday with 8 races at Bellewstown and 7 at Tipperary with two highlights.

Bellewstown 4.35: Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies Maiden.

3: All Things Nice: A promising horse who was an encouraging 2nd on debut at Limerick 19 days ago. She will have learnt plenty from that run and with improvement likely she can get off the mark here.

Tipperary 6.10: Kevin Mcmanus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle (Grade 3)

10: Celestial Horizon: A useful hurdler who picked up his career best win at Killarney 46 days ago. He did the job in good style comfortably coming home by 7 lengths. Despite this being a tougher test he definitely looks ready for a bigger stage and can follow up here.

4.40: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.

4: Chocquinte: A useful mare who was a course and distance winner back in May. She was a good 3rd behind Geocentric in a listed race at Cork when last seen 3 weeks ago and should continue her recent progression here making her the pick.

5.10: Coolmore Ten Sovereigns Tipperary Stakes.

2: The Antarctic: Lost his unbeaten run when finishing 7th in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot 13 days ago. He wasn't disgraced that day and with his trainer going well he should get back to winning ways here and pick up his second course and distance win.

1: Gustavus Weston: Hasn't been seen at his best in recent runs and was a below form 5th behind Brad The Brief in the Greenlands Stakes when last seen 18 days ago. However it took him a while to get going last season and he is the pick on form when judged on his Group 2 + 3 wins at The Curragh during his last campaign.

Cork 7.10: Munster Oaks Stakes (Group 3)

7: Thunder Kiss: A smart mare who won this race 12 months ago. She was an encouraging 3rd behind Lilac Road in the Middleton Stakes at York 27 days ago and another bold bid is expected here as she attempts to defend her crown.

6/6/22 Results

The week got off to a terrible start for both my picks, at Gowran Park Yermanthere was 9th. The 9/2 joint favourite was in touch sitting 6th at halfway. He made no impression from a furlong out weakening soon after. Upfront Spanish Tenor beat All Lies Ahead by 1 3/4 lengths. It was worse at Listowel where Rock On Seamie finished 10th. The 3/1 favourite tracked the leaders and was 4th at halfway. He weakened from 3 out tailling off. Molly Wedger won the race by 2 1/4 lengths.

After a busy opening to the week there is no Irish racing on Tuesday. There are cards at Brighton, Salisbury, Chelmsford and Wetherby. The next Irish meetings are on Wednesday at Wexford and Cork where the Group 3 Munster Oaks is among the features, my tips will be up on Tuesday night.

6/6/22 Gowran Park + Listowel

It was a decent day on Sunday with both my picks coming 3rd,at Listowel Congo River recovered from a poor start to sit 2nd at halfway. The 4/6 favourite made no impression from 2 out dropping to 4th soon after. He kept on at one pace grabbing 3rd close to home,Ti Sento won the race by 3 lengths. In the highlight at Kilbeggan Presenting Point tracked the leader and was 2nd before the 6th. He improved to 3rd 3 out but wasn’t fluent from 2 out making no impression on the leaders. Jack Hackett beat Grangeclare Native by 5 1/2 lengths.

The week gets underway with 7 races at both Gowran Park and Listowel where there are two main events.

Gowran Park 2.20: Sonix Entertainment Handicap.

7: Yermanthere: Was 6th at Cork when last seen 31 days ago but that run can be excused as he wasn't ideally placed. He should be competitive and if he performs as he did when 2nd back in April he can come out on top.

Listowel 3.45: Bryan Macmahon Handicap Hurdle.

11: Rock On Seamie: Has been running well lately,a second over this races trip at Cork in early May was followed up by a creditable fifth in a Grade B handicap at Killarney. This likeable horse can continue his decent form and pick up his second handicap hurdle win here.

5/6/22 Listowel + Kilbeggan

Saturday wasn't a great day for my picks, at Listowel Keepupwithmyempire was a non-runner. The race was won by Cash Or Crypto who beat Rumbled Again by 1 1/4 lengths. Over at Tramore Steppenwolf was 4th. The 4/1 shot was in midfield making some headway from 3 out. He sat 4th soon after making no impression from 2 out keeping on at one pace. Kingston Retreat won by 3 3/4 lengths.

Seven races at both Listowel and Kilbeggan complete the weekend with two standout contests.

Listowel 1.55: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

2: Congo River: A promising horse who was 2nd on debut at The Curragh 15 days ago. He definitely has more to offer and improvement is expected here which is why he should take all the beating.

Kilbeggan 4.55: Entegro Handicap Chase.

7: Presenting Point: Picked up his latest win at Tramore in April and returned after being pulled up in the Killarney National to finish a good second in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown 12 days ago. He switches from hurdles back to chasing here and should continue his good fences work so is definitely worth a chance.

4/6/22 Listowel + Tramore

The best performance on Friday came from Anna Bunina who finished 2nd at Down Royal. The 4/6 favourite led until she was passed approaching 2 out. She strongly pressed the eventual winner after the last but kept on at the same pace close to home. Shesadream won by 1 3/4 lengths. At Tramore Clody Valley came 6th. The 3/1 shot was never a factor while upfront Mater Matuta won by 5 lengths.

A busy weekend begins with 8 races at Listowel and 7 at Tramore with 2 features.

Listowel 1.05: Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden.

4: Keepupwithmyempire: A promising horse who was 3rd at Naas on debut a month ago. He was clear of the rest that day and should be suited by the longer trip here, more is expected giving him the nod.

Tramore 2.25: Tramore Farmers Market Handicap Hurdle.

8: Steppenwolf: Put in his career best performance when winning at Clonmel 23 days ago. He was comfortably 6 lengths in front on what was his handicap hurdle debut and with further progress on the cards he is more than capable of following up here.

3/6/22 Down Royal + Tramore

Thursday was another mixed day for my picks at Leopardstown, in the 6.15 Cadillac won. The 9/4 shot was 3rd early travelling well entering the straight. He challenged and led from a furlong out gaining a 2 length advantage. He kept on well to beat Georgeville by 3 3/4 lengths. Martinstown was a non-runner in the 7.20. The race was won by Cairde Go Deo who beat Boundless Ocean by a length.

Another double header rounds off the week with 7 races at both Down Royal and Tramore with 2 highlights.

Down Royal 4.50: Pat O'hare Bookmaker Mares Hurdle.

1: Anna Bunina: A useful hurdler who didn't need to be at her best to win a listed contest at Killarney 19 days ago. She beat Heia by a length showing good battling qualities and looks hard to beat here.

Tramore 5.00: Tramore Tourism Handicap Chase.

5: Clody Valley: Picked up his only career win so far over course and distance back in April. He couldn't follow up when 4th at Tipperary 29 days ago, however he was left with a lot to do so is well worth another chance.

2/6/22 Leopardstown

Wednesday was a poor day for my picks at The Curragh, in the 6.45 Neo Soul was 6th. The 11/4 favourite was in midfield early sitting 6th at halfway. He made no impression inside the final furlong while upfront Ano Syra won by 3 3/4 lengths. In the next Powerful Aggie was a non-runner. The race was won by Earl Of Tyrone who beat Moon Daisy by 4 lengths.

Leopardstown hosts 7 races on Thursday where two listed contests take centre stage.

6.15: Glencairn Stakes.

2: Cadillac: A smart colt who has been a course winner in his career. He was 6th in the Mooresbridge Stakes at The Curragh 31 days ago but with blinkers on for the 1st time he should quickly get back on track and sets the standard.

7.20: King George V Cup Stakes.

3: Martinstown: Won in good style on debut at Cork 27 days ago. He came home by 1/2 a length and with improvement expected this stiffer test and longer trip should definitely suit. He gets the vote here en route to bigger things.

2/8/25 Galway

The best on Friday at Galway came from Cloud Seeker who was 5th in a race won by Nans View who beat Cheeky Wink by a head. The other pick N...
