1/3/25 Navan

The winner at Dundalk on Friday was Athlumney Warrior. The 2/1 favourite tracked the leaders travelling well to lead from 2 out, he was soon clear staying on strongly in the final furlong easily beating J M's Joy by 2 1/4 lengths. In the other race San Andreas dead heated for 2nd. The 4/1 shot was 4th a furlong out keeping on well without threatening and disputing 2nd with Persian Bliss on the line, Dallas Star won by 1 1/2 lengths.

March begins on Saturday with 8 races at Navan where 2 take centre stage.

3.20: Flyingbolt Novice Chase (Grade 3)

1: Champ Kiely: A smart hurdler who made a good start over fences winning at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day. He was 4th behind Ballyburn in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown when last seen 27 days ago leading early being passed 2 out dropping to 4th entering the straight. He can build on that here just giving him the nod.

3.50: Boylesports Webster Cup Chase ( Grade 2)

1: El Fabiolo: A top-class chaser who has 8 career wins including 4 Grade one’s. He fell at the 2nd on his return in the Dublin Chase at Leopardstown in early February but that can be discounted and as long as his jumping improves then he will be hard to beat and he should pick up another big race success.

28/2/25 Dundalk

Thursday's winner at Clonmel was Paggane. The 15/8 shot was 3rd at halfway making a slight mistake 4 out, she recovered making headway to lead at the last. She kept on well on the run-in beating Karia Des Blaises by 2 1/4 lengths. The days other pick Hitak was 5th in a race won by Onlymammycanloveme who beat St Cuthbert's Cave by a neck.

Eight races take place at Dundalk on Friday where there are 2 features.

6.00: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden.

2: Athlumney Warrior: A promising horse who was 2nd on debut over course and distance a month ago. He led early but was passed two out, he made no impression soon after keeping on at the same pace. He should improve with that run under his belt and he can go one better here.

6.30: William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Race.

4: San Andreas: A decent veteran who's last win came over course and distance in December. The drop back to 7 furlongs didn't suit here last time where he was 6th at halfway making no impression inside the final furlong eventually finishing 5th. Despite that he is a big player here going back up in trip and he can quickly return to winning ways.

After a 2 day break Irish racing returns on Thursday with 7 contests at Clonmel with 2 highlights.

1.40: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase.

3: Paggane: A decent horse who has taken well to chasing finishing 2nd in a Grade 2 at Limerick in December and 3rd at Fairyhouse 3 weeks ago. She was in 2nd approaching halfway challenging at the last, she dropped to 3rd in the final 100 yards making no impression. She has a good chance here and can make it 3rd time lucky over fences.

4.00: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle.

5: Hitak: A lightly-raced horse who after finishing 2nd here in January was badly hampered by a faller 4 out when finishing 6th at Naas 19 days ago. That can be overlooked and with improvement expected he can take a step forward and open his account here.

24/2/25 Results

An excellent Monday at Punchestown saw both of my picks win. Familiar Dreams made all the running being pressed entering the straight, the 6/4 favourite was clear at the last and despite having a reduced advantage she stayed on well under pressure beating Toad Hall by 3/4 of a length. In the other race Rokathir sat 3rd three out improving to challenge approaching the straight. The 5/2 favourite had a narrow lead at the last staying on strongly and comfortably beating Topgun Simmy by 4 3/4 lengths.

After today's action Irish racing takes a two day break. There are meetings at Leicester, Catterick and Wolverhampton on Tuesday with Wincanton, Wetherby, Bangor-On-Dee and Kempton on Wednesday. The next Irish card is at Clonmel on Thursday tips for the highlights will be up on Wednesday night.

24/2/25 Punchestown

Neither of my tips ran at Naas on Sunday after the last 2 races were abandoned. Heavy late afternoon rain left the chase course unfit for racing leaving the course with no option.

If an early Monday morning inspection is passed then another week will begin with 8 races at Punchestown where 2 stand out.

2.35: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle.

1: Familiar Dreams: A promising horse who's fifth career win came at Tramore back in August. She was a decent 3rd on hurdles debut here 28 days ago sitting 2nd at halfway but making no impression approaching the last dropping to 3rd on the run-in. She should improve and is the one to beat here.

3.35: Book Your Group Deal Today Handicap Hurdle.

12: Rokathir: A lightly-raced horse who was running well and challenging before falling two out on chase debut here last month. If recovered satisfactorily then he has an excellent chance back over smaller obstacles on handicap hurdle debut and he should open his account here.

23/2/25 Naas

Saturday's winner at Fairyhouse was Nick Rockett. The 5/6 favourite was 2nd early disputing the lead from the 3rd, he travelled well moving to the front 2 out staying on well on the run-in beating Intense Raffles by 3/4 of a length. In the other race Bioluminescence was 2nd. The 9/4 shot led at the 4th but was strongly pressed being passed before the last by Spindleberry who won by 6 1/2 lengths.

Eight races take place at Naas on Sunday where there are 2 main events.

4.50: William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Nas Na Riogh Novice Handicap Chase.

1: Shannon Royale: A decent horse who's latest win came at Punchestown in December. The step up to graded level was too much last time being pulled up 3 out at Gowran Park in the Goffs Thyestes 31 days ago. That can be overlooked and in a smaller field he can definitely bounce back and pick up a fifth career win.

5.20: DAR Golf Newlands Chase (Grade 3)

1: Blood Destiny: A smart chaser who was a creditable 3rd behind Appreciate It in the Grade 2 Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase at Thurles 35 days ago. He sat 5th approaching halfway improving to dispute the lead entering the straight, he was passed before the last making no impression on the run-in. That was his return after 8 months off and this looks like a good opportunity for him to resume winning ways.

Heavy overnight rain left parts of the track unfit for racing, the card has now been moved to Monday.

There are 8 races at Fairyhouse on Saturday with 2 features.

3.25: Follow ToteRacing On Twitter BobbyJo Chase (Grade 3)

8: Nick Rockett: A high-class chaser who has been a course winner. He has one victory from two runs this season that came in a Grade 3 at Gowran Park 30 days ago where he made headway from 4 out travelling well to lead soon after staying on well and coming home by 2 1/4 lengths. He is definitely a big player and can follow up here.

4.35: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Colreevy Mares Novice Chase.

1: Bioluminescence: A decent horse who impressed on chase debut winning a Grade 2 at Limerick in December. She led from the 8th and despite being strongly pressed she stayed on well winning by 3 lengths.
